I like that I'm typing this post as my only reader stands right next to me folding socks. Awesome!
(Without ME, it would just be aweso...)
So I'm home I guess.
Last night, I went to my professor's house for the final meeting of our ghost class. Good times! When we all got there (my ride missed the turn to her house), we left again to walk to the cemetary about a quarter of a mile away from her house. It was SO COLD! At least I had my boots so my feet stayed dry. Jake had to wear his cloth slip-ons. And no gloves, so he stuck his hand in mine. Innywho....
We checked out the gravestone of the woman who haunts Prof's house, a young mother named Annie. She died of dyptheria shortly after giving birth to her fourth child. Then we walked back for cider and snacks and a tour of her beautiful old home and a ghost story. Woo!
On the tour, we saw the parlor of the house where Jake played creepy music on the antique piano (which freaked out the biggest skeptic in our class... he turned out to be the biggest scaredy cat too) and Prof turned the handle on her creepy victrola machine. Cool stuff man! Then we saw the library (SO MANY BOOKS... and an organ. cue more creepy music curtesy of Jake) and went up the REALLY STEEP staircase to the upstairs. It was a beautiful home that the family had remodeled from the ground up. I would totally live there.
So by the time all the tours were done, it was about 10:00 pm. Everyone was tired! But we sat and listened to her tell about how she had felt a presence behind her several times to find no one there, had doors mysteriously lock for no reason, and a candle pop out of the candleabra. She passed around an old Polaroid of the house where a face can clearly be seen in the window when no one was in the house at the time. Then no photos could ever be taken in the house for many years after that, regardless of the camera used. Pretty intense. Nothing happened that night, but it was still fun. Jake fell asleep on the couch but I nudged him awake. We finally got back to Doane at like 11:45, and I totally crashed.
Good interterm. Bring it on, Spring semester!
Oh: The cats. Haha, they had two white cats, who were so cute. My nose didn't like them but I petted them anyway. At the end of the night, one of the cats was totally sprawled out next to Jake on the arm of the couch and the other was licking the bowl of peanuts. Quite good entertainment for the evening.
Nice adventure. I'm not your only reader.
